J Scott sends this note along with this amazing skating routine
When I was a kid my Dad was dissapointed that I was not like all the other boys!
When I was 11 he said to me: "No son of mine is gonna be a figure skater your gonna be a hockey player and your gonna like it!"
He wasnt very happy that day! Neither was I!
I got angry and ran away!
And my lifes journey took off from there.
I became a figure skater anyways and through my career my Dad became my biggest fan and best friend.
I miss my Dad since he passed away and will never forget how he loved me even though when I was a kid he wanted me to be Different!
Different is exactly what made me who I am today and the unconditional love of my Dad is what showed me that no matter what, I am OK!
This performance is dedicated to my Dad, Benny Driscoll, and my families Irish Heritage!
Thanks for loving me just as I am!
1991 US Open in Seattle Washington where J Scott placed third behind Scott Williams and Scott Hamilton.
Because of skating politics, this was never aired and this remains the only footage of this beautiful, lyric and nearly flawless piece. Scott, who lives here in Palm Springs now, just gave me this clip and had to post it to share with the world.
